MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Zone will be a place for student ministry where high school and college students will be given opportunities to minister to middle schoolers under the guidance of adult leaders. The Zone will take place on Sunday nights at 5:00 PM at Nelson Merry Gym. The agenda will be to follow the 4 Ws outlined in our Cove Group Strategy; Welcome, (fellowship, games, activities, ice-breakers) Worship, (reflecting on and lifting up God in various forms) Word (Bible Study geared toward the issues that students face) and Works (creating projects and ministry opportunities for this age)

These are crucial times in students lives for several reasons; 1) This is the first time in their lives that they begin to experience some level of freedom and independence. 2) Changes in philosophies and values are really starting to take root and exhibit themselves 3) Because of their freedom and independence, they are exposed to more things in our culture. 4) They begin to question authority. (good or bad) 5) Physical changes take place during these years that they are not used to and could end up being either helpful or harmful at the same time. All of these factors, on the surface, seem to be negative and sometimes they can be. However, with the right time, attention and encouragement, this can be a time of great impact in their world.

A key to students becoming who God created them to be is Positive Peer Influence. In other words, the primary goals of The Zone are to first create a mindset that they are not alone in their faith and to provide role models who are ahead of them on the path as they continue to develop and grow on their spiritual journey and that knowing Christ and living for Him can be a lifestyle more exciting and fulfilling than they could ever imagine. This will be instilled through a healthy group time as well as the Holy Spirit revealing truth to them through God’s Word.

COLLEGE STUDENTS

It is intentional that Lakepoint was planted near the campus of Carson-Newman College.    A large part of our vision at Lakepoint is to impact the lives of students through relevant teaching, exciting worship, small groups, and strategic service in the community.    This is a crucial time in the life of a young adult.    During the ages of 18-25 some of the most important decisions in life are made.    We want to help students build a solid foundation in Christ which will help them make those important decisions.   Although the majority of our students are from Carson-Newman, we also have students from Walters State (Morristown) and University of Tennessee (Knoxville).
 
So, whether it is gathering for home cooked meals on Sunday, special events honoring students, meeting during the week for fun and bible Study, or just hanging out on campus….. LakePoint really cares about the lives of students.   So, come check us out every Sunday morning at 10:30am at Jefferson Elementary School.
